Trusting God?

No. I know that most of you who read this blog believe IN God. The question is, Are you believing God? If so, what things are YOU believing God to do for you? I use to have a friend ask me that question all the time and it drove me crazy. Why? Because quite honestly I wasn’t believing God for anything. I think most of us could offer a few basic things like good health for our family members, wisdom or insight, and perhaps even long life. But really now.. Are there some crazy things you could dare to believe God for? I beet there are. You know why I know that? Because He is THE Creator and the Creative ONE lives in YOU!

I can still remember driving home from a long Thanksgiving weekend and receiving the theme for my first book. I hadn’t asked God for a book idea. However I couldn’t deny the theme because a full outline for the book came with it as a gift to me. It wasn’t a true gift to anyone else however until I had written the first manuscript. And it won’t be a gift to any of you until its published one day, (God willing.) From this experience I learned that everything God gives starts with a seed. It took several months to write and re-right my first novel. The basics were there in my head but the seeds for characters, setting, plot and sequencing all had to germinate. Since that first day nearly two years ago until now I have written manuscripts for three books and have an outline for a new novel now. Earlier this year I purchased a Christian Writer’s Seminar on CD. A few weeks later I learned how to start this blog. Hopefully one day some of these postings can be expanded and published as magazine articles. Who knows what God will do and wants done with my life?

You may be thinking..ok but I can’t write. I’m sorry to say it took me over forty years to believe I could. The point is all of us have something to believe God for. Some of these possibilities are simple practical things we would like to see take place in our lives. What things are you praying and believing God for? May you too have ideas that seem like dream seeds. If we take the time and thought necessary to see some of these dream seeds take shape they too can become life changing opportunities and rich blessings to others.

In John 12:35-40 (of THE MESSAGE Bible,) Jesus said, "For a brief time still, the light is among you. Walk by the light you have so darkness doesn't destroy you. If you walk in darkness, you don't know where you're going. As you have the light, believe in the light. Then the light will be within you, and shining through your lives. You'll be children of light." Jesus said all this, and then went into hiding. All these God-signs he had given them and they still didn't get it, still wouldn't trust him. This proved that the prophet Isaiah was right: God, who believed what we preached? Who recognized God's arm, outstretched and ready to act? First they wouldn't believe, then they couldn't—again, just as Isaiah said: Their eyes are blinded, their hearts are hardened, So that they wouldn't see with their eyes and perceive with their hearts, And turn to me, God, so I could heal them.
My challenge to each of you this week is to not let your eyes be blinded and your hearts hardened. Believe God for the impossible things.
